Murat Ali Bayir is Principal Applied Scientist at Microsoft Bing Ads. He is currently leading Counterfactual Platform Team of Bing Ads. Before Microsoft, Dr. Bayir worked on large scale decision support platform in Google and Query Recommendation system in Ask.com between 2010 and 2013. He was Research assistant at Computer Science Department of University at Buffalo between 2007 and 2010.
Dr. Bayir was also one of the founding engineers of Turkish startup where he worked on developing Search Engine focusing on Turkish language. Between 2005 and 2007, Dr. Bayir helped to raise government sponsored funds for Turkish startup and his team significantly contributed Apache Hadoop and Nutch projects. Before 2005, Murat worked in Havelsan (Turkish Armed Forces Foundation Company) for 2 years as a Software Engineer. Murat holds PhD degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University at Buffalo and BS-MS degree from Computer Engineering with minor in Math from Middle East Technical University.
